Getting involved in with a team or group can hold you accountable to your own contribution and progress — including in your recovery. Most communities have recreational team sports leagues, where you can find a group to join. Or, if sports aren’t for you, consider joining a Crossfit gym or runners’ group — these are communities where you’ll not only find a place where you can fit in, but also, sobriety and wellness is valued more than in the general population around you!

But that doesn’t mean the only way you can work on your own strength and fitness is with a group. Training on your own or going on solo runs can be a great way to relieve stress and clear your head without resorting to using drugs and alcohol.

Get Involved in the Local Recovery Scene
