The Effects of Drugs & Alcohol On The Body
Drugs and alcohol can have profound and damaging effects on the body. Alcohol, a depressant, impairs brain function and motor skills; long-term use can lead to liver disease and neurological issues. Stimulants like cocaine increase heart rate and blood pressure, risking heart attacks and strokes. Opioids, including heroin, depress breathing, posing a high overdose risk. Chronic drug use can lead to various health problems, including heart disease, liver failure, and mental health disorders. Substance abuse also weakens the immune system, making the body more susceptible to infections. The impact is far-reaching, affecting nearly every organ system in the body.
